AI, Efficiency and the Human Touch in Design

AI's recent presence in design has sparked many hopes and fears. We’ll explore these sentiments, acknowledging the excitement of streamlined processes alongside the apprehension of potential job displacement. Many believe we are now at the precipice of a new era in design efficiency, propelled by the integration of artificial intelligence (AI). Our talk delves into the transformative partnership with AI, highlighting the myriad ways the new tools have seamlessly embedded themselves into our workflows. We’ll also consider where in the product development lifecycle AI helps us design more efficiently, and where it opposes a quality risk. We’ll consider where AI enhances our workflows, from rapid prototyping to data-driven insights. As we navigate the relationship between AI and efficiency, we can’t forget the individuals for whom we design, and the humans with whom we design. We’ll make sure to set a reminder of our responsibility—to create with empathy, understanding, and a keen eye on the greater human experience. AI tools also serve to connect us as humans, fostering collaboration and shared growth.
